Switching to Mac (plus update from over the summer)

Posted by brono1998 on November 4, 2014 at 11:10 PM Comments comments (1)

Hey guys, long time no updates. I've been working over the entire summer, and it has been awesome and tiring. Sadly being back in school has caused me to lose hours at work for the sake of education. That being said, I still get to work over the weekend which is pretty good.

I upgraded my phone from a iPhone 4 to a Samsung Galaxy S4. It's been a great phone, I just miss iOS but love the customizability.

I bought a Lenovo thinkpad t400 for $200.00 and it has been working decently well, aside from a few graphical glitches, but Windows on the other hand has been utter crap. Windows 7 runs like crap on this Thinkpad, and Windows 8 and 8.1 cause too many graphical glitches to deal with. So I do plan on putting windows XP on it to get it running smoothly.

Now I plan on switching to Mac over the next couple of months for a few reasons. 1: I want to experience OSX. 2: Video editing,  Audio editing and Photo editing tends to be alot better on OSX, even for beginners. This is a big reason why I'm switching to OSX. Now this is going to change quite a few things for me in the Youtube and even content creation side of me. I will be able to create better videos and even music with GarageBand. So this will be pretty awesome. I plan on buying two Macs, a late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro and a 2008 Mac Pro, both of which can run the latest version of OSX as of 2014 (OSX 10.10 Yosemite). Now I plan on buying the Macbook first and giving my sister my Thinkpad T400 for her Birthday.

So this has been my first blog post in months. I hope you guys enjoyed, and I do plan on switching web site creators or just switching to blog only format, so stay tuned.

How to install Jupiter in Ubuntu 13.04

Posted by brono1998 on August 25, 2013 at 12:25 AM Comments comments (0)

Jupiter is a power management applet for Ubuntu Linux that has been around for quite some time. But as of the latest release (Ubuntu 13.04) it is no longer officially supported. Many applets have appeared up but never worked as good as Jupiter. Well I'm going to show you how to install Jupiter on your Ubuntu 13.04 laptop (hosted by jolicloud).

First step is to open Terminal by pressing ctrl+alt+T

Next type:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jolicloud-team/ppa

Next type:

sudo apt-get update

Now type:

sudo apt-get install jupiter

Now search for jupiter in the Unity search and open it, and start saving battery life.

(This applet is no longer officially supported but works fine on most machines. The worst you might get is the Ubuntu internal error [harmless])

GNR Appetite for Destruction 25th anniversary

Posted by brono1998 on July 21, 2012 at 11:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Today marks the 25th anniversary of my favorite album from Guns N' Roses. Appetite for Destruction. Slash, even though not his favorite album from the band, stated that the songs "wrote themselves". To this date the album is still the Number one Selling Debut album of a band in the United States, even after all these years.

WWDC 2012 Keynote

Monday June 11, 2012, the WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) 2012 Keynote took place with new MacBooks, new iOS, and OSX Mountain Lion.

Starting off with the MacBooks, the Macbook Air now has the new Ivy Bridge Intel Core processors with the new Intel 4000 graphics, 2 USB 3.0 ports, and a Thunderbolt port.

The MacBook Pro now has 2 submodels, the MacBook Pro, and the MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The regular MacBook Pro got the new Ivy Bridge processors as well, but this time with Turbo Boost to go from 2.7 ghz to 3.7 ghz, USB 3.0, a Facetime HD 720p camera as well as a few suttle changes. The MacBook Pro w/Retina Display has a Slimmer profile, eliminating the superdrive. And say good bye to the traditional Hard Drive on the MB Pro because now the The Macbook Pro with Retina Display has a Solid State Drive (SSD) considerably larger than that of the Air. It also has a bigger battery for 7 hours on WIFI. All the new MacBooks shiped as of June 11, 2012.

OSX Mountain Lion hasn't really changed accept for the part where it will now backup and update when put in Sleep Mode (SSD Memory only).

And iOS got some nice new features as well, such as a whole new Map application eliminating Google Maps, Siri on The New iPad, Facebook integration, the ability to share photo's from the Photo Stream, and a new wallpaper. Thank God we can finnaly get rid of the green water one.

Rock Hall of Fame welcomes new Class

(I want to state that I actually like Axl and his new GN'R but prefer the old group)

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony didn't miss Axl Rose at all.

The rowdy celebration, which has been known in the past for it's awkward moments, touching tributes, and unforgettable performances, rocked without Rose, the Guns N' Roses frontman who may regret skipping a night with over 6000 fans, 1400 guests and many of musics biggest stars partied in Public Hall with the “Class of 2012”.

Guns N' Roses -minus Axl- headlined the show with Sweet Child O' Mine with most of the original band members including Duff, Steven, and Slash with the lead singer being Myles Kennedy, from Slash's solo career. Others enshrined included Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beastie Boys, folk icon Donovan, and many others.

The first mention of Rose's name drew a smattering of boos that were quickly drowned out by music. Rose, the screeching frontman of GN'R traveling circus of dysfunction for decades, said earlier last week (as of 4/16/2012) that he didn't want to be part of a ceremony that didn't want or respect him. Though more likely it was because Slash was there.

Installing Ubuntu 11.10 as a Dual bootable OS.

Well today I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my ASUS X54C laptop to dual boot with my Win 7 Partition. I gave it my third partition of 24GBs and installed it using wubi. Since my computer is maxed out on 4GBs I used the 32bit version. Got it installed, updated, and installed a webcam, and dvd application and everything except sleep works.

Installation of Mac OS X Lion in Virtual Box on a PC

Posted by brono1998 on March 11, 2012 at 3:05 AM Comments comments (0)

This installation was actually quite simple and easy. The files you will need can be found using Google and ThePirateBay. Before you start you need to make sure your processor can take 64bit OS's. Even though this is being used in a virtual environment it will kernel panic if you try to install on a 32bit processor. The computer I used was a ASUS X54C Laptop with a 2.3GHZ Intel Core i3 processor and 4GBs of ram. You will need a cracked copy of OSX lion (as retail copy kernel panics when booting). The one I used was Niresh12495 Lion 10.7.1. You will need Oracles Virtual box. You will not need a boot loader if you used the Niresh12495 Lion distro. Just make sure you set up things for your audio, video, and the Applications you will want to install.
